goUR · privacy policy
Effective date: July 20, 2026
goUR ("the app") is a remake of the Royal Game of Ur for iPhone and iPad, developed by Victor Kreniski ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles — and, more importantly, what it doesn't.
What the app stores, and where
On your device. Your game progress, settings, statistics, achievements, custom piece designs, and challenge history are stored locally on your device. Diagnostic logs (used to troubleshoot problems) also stay on your device and are never transmitted to us.
In your iCloud (CloudKit). If you are signed in to iCloud, the app syncs your progress, settings, achievements, and creations across your devices using Apple's CloudKit, stored in your private iCloud database. This data belongs to your Apple Account; we cannot access, read, or receive it. You can disable this at any time in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Game Center (Apple). Online multiplayer, achievements, and player identity are provided by Apple's Game Center. When you play online or earn achievements, the app reports that activity to Game Center under your Game Center player identity. Game Center is operated by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy; we do not receive or store your Game Center data on any server of ours (we have none).
Purchases (App Store). The optional one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Purchase entitlements are verified on your device through Apple's StoreKit.
Nearby play (local network). If you use nearby multiplayer, the app connects directly to the other player's device over your local network (peer-to-peer). No data passes through any server, and nothing about these sessions is collected.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No analytics or telemetry sent to us or anyone else
- No third-party SDKs of any kind
- No accounts, emails, or passwords — the app never asks who you are
- No selling, sharing, or monetizing of data (there is nothing to sell)
Children
goUR is a board game suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no data, no personal information is collected from children.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, we will update this policy and note the new effective date above. Material changes will be called out in the App Store release notes.
